Often I find I have a sense of nostalgia for things I've never actually experienced. -Unknown

Who is Gurtey (see last weeks post: Gurtey) and why is she seeing stars? I have made many marquee letters, I have shifted from letters to shapes. A star was the perfect shape for Gurtey’s. The marquee has been around since the 30s, they are classic. Marquee letters are a great whimsical element you can use to brighten any room (literally)!

How to make a marquee

Supplies

1. Exacto knife

2. Ruler

3. Pencil

4. Cutting matte

5. Hot glue gun and lots of glue sticks

6. Masking tape

7. Foam Core

8. Poster Board

9. Paint

10. Globe lights

Steps

1. Draw shape

2. Cut out shape

3. Mark and cut the holes out for the lights

4. Cut the poster board into 3.5 inches stripes

5. Glue the poster board around the shape. (For this marquee I cut the pieces to the length of each point on the star.)

6. Glue the cut edges

7. Time to paint!

8. Add lights (Use tape to secure the light wires in the back.)

9. Plug in and done!

Marquees are not a new concept, and some say they are ‘overdone.’ Marquees are a great way to add personality, a bold element, and a warm glow to any home. Okay, now I am probably writing the next post. Maybe I am working on the next project I will write about. Maybe it's drying in the craft room as you read this. Or is it done? Am I done writing it? Am I taking picture to add to the post? I could be formatting the post right now. The process is important, but It doesn't matter here, all you need to know is the next post is on its way.
